What’s this all about?

If you are a sole trader or a freelancer, you probably LOVE what you are doing but you might find the “business” side of things less interesting. That’s what “The business of…” is all about.

Each month, I run mini-workshops and facilitated discussions for service-based businesses on topics as diverse as pricing, proposals, getting started with a website, marketing strategy, key messaging and more, and we tailor them for small businesses, facilitators, trainers, coaches, and storytellers. All workshops take place via Zoom so that you can join wherever you are in the world!

Workshops for your organisation

Would you like to offer your members or network access to a range of workshops, branded with your name but run by us?

I’d love to partner with you! I partner with a number of organisations, including the British Library, the International Association of Facilitators (IAF), and The Story Café, running individual workshops or a series of workshops over an agreed period of time. There are lots of ways that we can work together to meet your needs and your budget, and workshop branding can be restricted to you, or we can brand the workshop jointly.

If you’re not tech-savvy, I can even manage the creation of events on our preferred event platform, and manage the whole registration process, too.

The trainer

Our workshops are designed and delivered by Suzanne Whitby, a communication specialist with a particular interest in supporting and mentoring small business owners by sharing her experience and expertise of running successful service-based businesses for over 20 years.

Over the last 20-odd years, Suzanne has worked in a variety of communication roles, working with organisations of all sizes. For the last 10 years, she has been using her experience and expertise to bring people together, guide conversations, and share knowledge. During that time she has coached, mentored, and trained hundreds of small business owners in the skills they need to start, grow, and thrive!

Suzanne is the founder of science communication consultancy SciComm Success, runs Whitby’s, and has a secret life as an oral storyteller. Among other things
